Is Your Team The Best on the Island?

by isleofman.com 8th September 2011
Do you and your colleagues pride yourself on your ability to work as a team? Or are you looking for an event to help improve communication skills and how you work under pressure? Well, if you answered yes to either of the above questions The Children’s Centre is offering the perfect event for your team. The Adventure Team Challenge - sponsored by software developers PDMS - is billed as the Island's ultimate team adventure event and puts teams of five to the test both mentally and physically in a series of adrenaline filled ‘stages'. You will have to run and cycle - and you will definitely get wet! But apart from that the rest of the challenge will remain a mystery until teams take to the start line on September 24. Even the start location for the event is kept secret until the big day which runs from 9am to 6pm. What can be guaranteed are a few surprises along the way but, as organiser Mark Eastham points out, that’s all part of the fun. He said: “The challenges are designed with business people in mind. No specialist athletic skills or conditioning are required but participants must expect to be ready for a range of tasks and activities which will test them individually and as a team. The challenges are also a lot of fun and designed for people of all abilities - but a certain degree of silliness is also required!” Past winners of the Adventure Team Challenge include property developer Dandara, investment firm Capital International, software developer PDMS and power supplier MEA. Chris Gledhill, Managing Director of PDMS, said the company was delighted to support the event once again. He said: “The Adventure team Challenge is a real highlight of the year for us, it is great fun and a fantastic opportunity to get out of the office and work as a team in a totally different environment, This year we will be doing our best to hold on to that trophy!” Entry to the event is for teams of five and costs ?600. Discounts are on offer for an organisation or business which puts two or more teams into the event. This will be the second year that PDMS has sponsored the Adventure Team Challenge - and thanks to their support all proceeds from the entry fees goes directly to support The Children’s Centre’s charitable projects Out2Play, Mobex, Child Contact Centre and Philip Christian Centre. Eighteen teams have entered so far, but it’s not too late to get involved.
