The Annual President’s Day Mixed Doubles competition for the rather splendid En-Tous-Cas Shield was played on Sunday. The event which had been postponed from July was played in two groups with everyone playing with and against their partner and keeping their own individual score. In the semi-finals Andy Murray/Val Worth bt Bryan Sharp/Anne Bannan 10/5 10/3 and Ashley Sandyford-Sykes/Gillian Pearson bt Phil Bannan/Barbara Foley 10/5 10/8. In the final Andy and Val bt Ashley and Gillian, in a highly competitive match 10/5 10/8. There were also place play-offs for the other players. Prizes were presented to the winners, runners-up and losing semi-finalists by club president, Bryan Sharp. Everyone enjoyed a Wimbledon style buffet including strawberries and Pymms prepared by Shelby and Pat and some funds for club development was also raised.
