The Annual President’s Day Mixed Doubles competition for the rather splendid En-Tous-Cas Shield was played on Sunday. The event which had been postponed from July was played in two groups with everyone playing with and against their partner and keeping their own individual score. In the semi-finals Andy Murray/Val Worth bt Bryan Sharp/Anne Bannan 10/5 10/3 and Ashley Sandyford-Sykes/Gillian Pearson bt Phil Bannan/Barbara Foley 10/5 10/8. In the final Andy and Val bt Ashley and Gillian, in a highly competitive match 10/5 10/8. There were also place play-offs for the other players. Prizes were presented to the winners, runners-up and losing semi-finalists by club president, Bryan Sharp. Everyone enjoyed a Wimbledon style buffet including strawberries and Pymms prepared by Shelby and Pat and some funds for club development was also raised. Also don’t forget that the club lounge with use of kitchen is available for hire. Contact Shelby Sandyford-Sykes mob. 403124. The room is ideal for parties, meetings or fund raising events. On that theme don’t forget the Car Boot Sale on Saturday 1 October from 1 – 4pm. There are still some tables available for members to hire and we are looking for two or three members to run a “Club stall” where all proceeds go to the Development fund. The final junior tournament of the season is the Autumn half-term event, sponsored by Panacea Pharma Products from Thursday 13 – Sunday 16 October. Put this date in your diaries now. Entry will be on line . Entry fee minis ?3 and other groups ?5.Age groups are Boys/Girls singles -Mini Tennis 8(red),9 (orange) 10 (green) plus 12, 14 and 18 and under. ENDS
