Women Helping Women With over ?7,800 Donation
Representatives from the Mosaic Conference, a Christian Women's conference on the Isle of Man, opened the “Mosaic Bathroom” at the Isle of Man Women’s Refuge today. During the 2010 Mosaic conference, held at the Villa Marina, ?7,876 was raised to fund the project with conference attendees donating toward items such as tiles, bathroom furniture and labour time to replace the much needed facilities.
The Women’s Refuge on the Island aims to provide a safe haven for vulnerable women and their families, suffering from domestic abuse.
“One of Mosaic’s aims is to make attendees aware of social issues and to encourage them to meet specific needs” said Helen Edwards, Mosaic’s event organiser, “We are so pleased that we have collectively been able to help in making the new bathroom a reality for the ladies who are staying at the Refuge.”
The new bathroom features a new bath, shower cubicle, toilet and basin, fully tiled and furnished to accommodate the needs of the women and children it will serve.
“We are incredibly thankful to the ladies of Mosaic who have provided such a luxurious and relaxing environment for the refuge’s residents” said Thelma Lomax, Treasurer, “Since starting the discussion with the Mosaic team last year, attending the conference and witnessing the generosity of the delegates, the bathroom has now been transformed.”
The Mosaic team would also like to thank all those who assisted them in making this happen, from the ladies who donated their time and gifts to make this happen as well as all suppliers: Cu-Plas Callow (IOM) Ltd, Premier Plumbing and Heating Ltd, Warren Keys of Isle of Man Tile Company, Talbot Blinds and James Caine Carpet Specialists.
