International Training Weekend (24th-25th) Attracts World Renowned Sea Kayakers

The Isle of Man International Training Weekend is running 24th and 25th September 2011. Part of the Isle of Man Sea Kayak Symposium week, the event has attendees from N America, Estonia, Spain, Netherlands, Finland, UK and local paddlers as well. World renowned Leaders Nigel Dennis (N Wales) Tom Bergh and Dales Williams (US) are part of the guest coach line-up. The Isle of Man is becoming known for its abundant tidal races and Overfalls - forming advanced features which attract world class sea kayakers to travel and train here. Local Adventure Sports Coach Keirron Tastagh hosts the symposium (now in its 9th year) at his centre Adventurous Experiences in St Johns. The event also uses the Isle of Man Yacht Club in Port St Mary for the weekend. Tom Bergh - a world class sea kayaker and expedition leader is the Saturday evening speaker. A few places are still available for kayakers with their own boats to sign up to the event. Over 20 of the attendees (a large proportion from Finland) have extended their stay till the end of the month, for the additional 5 day training course with provisional circumnavigation mini - expedition. The event is open to Improver, Intermediate and Advanced Sea Kayakers and costs ?120. High level leadership training and assessment courses are also running during the weekend, BCU 4* and 5* Sea Awards.
