Ballacottier School

by isleofman.com 19th September 2011
Ballacottier Primary School has been struggling all day with an intermittent water supply as a result of the burst water main. The most serious issue the school faces is lack of flushing toilets. Therefore, following consultation with Public Health officials, it has been decided that, in the interests of the pupils’ health and safety, the school should start to shut early today (Monday). It would be very helpful, where parents are able to, if they could collect their children from the school as soon as possible this afternoon. To aid the school with this process, parents are requested to go to the school office rather than to classrooms. Reducing the number of pupils in the school in this way will make it much easier to provide suitable facilities for those who remain in school until parents collect them at the normal time. The Water Authority has been working closely with the school all day and has recently restored a low-pressure water supply, but it will take several hours to refill the header tanks and restore full supplies. Therefore school should open as normal tomorrow. ENDS
