A Triumphant Success at Sleepwell Hotels End 2 End Presentation

by isleofman.com 21st September 2011
Sleepwell Hotels are delighted to announce the success of the biggest End 2 End competition yet. Working alongside a team of committed volunteers and the Manx Mountain Bike Club, Sleepwell have supported the organising committee of the event for the last 8 years. The event, which saw 1700 competitors cycling from the Point of Ayre to the Sound, drew to a close on Sunday 18th September with a presentation ceremony at the Villa Marina. This was a chance for competitors and organisers to celebrate together as the winners were presented with their prizes. After the presentation, everyone enjoyed a meal provided by Coast Restaurant. The Manx Mountain Bike Club founded the event fifteen years ago and continues to play an integral role in its success. The organisation and smooth running of the event would not be possible without involvement from the club and those that support them. As well as taking care of the logistics of the competition, the MMBC recruit the huge numbers of marshals who generously donate their time to supervise the competition. Sleepwell have been able to assist in building the profile of the event over the years and promoting its success. The End 2 End has become a prominent date in the calendar year for many aspiring cyclists, as ever-increasing numbers travel to the Island to participate. Mark Wilson, Managing Director of Sleepwell Hotels commented on the success; “I think the End 2 End has the edge over similar events across the world due to its level of professionalism. Many competitors have commented that they really look forward to participating each year because of a combination of this and the helpful, friendly Manx volunteers. “Sleepwell Hotels are very proud to have been involved in supporting and developing the event to its current level of quality and professionalism, but we must pay tribute to the organisers and other volunteers that help to make the event possible. Without their time and dedication, the End 2 End would not be the fantastic spectacle that it is today. I cannot stress enough, how grateful and indebted we are to everyone involved in the event organisation and for the immense work they do in bringing so many people to the Island.’’ “I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the winner, Nick Craig, on his outstanding performance – although all of the participants deserve credit for being able to complete such a challenging course. This year Sleepwell Hotels contributed services to the value of ?30,000 towards the event. This included; meeting space and a registration venue for the organisers, a complimentary pre-race meal for all competitors, cash contribution towards the prize fund, winner’s sliver plated trophy, subsidised room rates at all three Sleepwell hotels and finally a post-race meal at the Villa Marina presentation; in association with Coast.
