Tour Information
"I can't tell you how, but I always knew I could sing" - Tony Christie
Tony Christie began his career as a humble back row chorister at his primary school in Conisbrough some 49 years ago. His music teacher liked what he heard and found the boy a front row place, where he began his illustrious career in which he has released nineteen studio albums and has gone from Sheffield to Amarillo, and very much back again.
It wasn't long before he started making hit singles such as 1971's 'Las Vegas', 'What I Did For Maria', '(Is This The Way To) Amarillo' and 'Alleyways and Avenues' (1973) and carved his reputation to become the much adored British icon he is today.
In 2008 Tony Christie released the Richard Hawley produced 'Made In Sheffield', it was the album he was born to make and was a major commercial and artistic success, which received critical acclaim in the UK press.
In 2011 Tony Christie will celebrate his 50th Anniversary in music and will release ‘Now’s The Time!’ The album, produced by Richard Barrett from The All Seeing I, sees Christie re-discovering his soulful musical roots and features collaborations with Jarvis Cocker and Roisin Murphy.
