Monday 17 October 2011 Simon Leach, PwC, Director – Banking & Capital Markets Tax ‘Responding to FATCA in the Isle of Man’ Simon Leach from PwC London will be the next guest speaker for ICSA at their event on 17 October 2011, giving a presentation titled ‘Responding to FATCA in the Isle of Man’. Simon is a director in the Banking and Capital Markets tax group at PwC in London. Since joining the firm in 1997 he has specialised in capital markets and banking tax issues, with a particular interest in the taxation of equity finance and structured products, operational taxes, branch taxation and the tax treatment of regulatory capital. He leads the PwC Banking & Capital Markets operational taxes team. Simon is a regular speaker on taxation issues relating to the Banking and Capital Markets sector, in particular repo and stock lending transactions, derivatives, manufactured dividend rules and the tax treatment of regulatory capital. Simon advises extensively on a wide range of operational tax issues impacting the FS sector including FATCA, the OECD TRACE project, proposed changes to the EU Savings Directive, the new UK/Swiss Final Withholding Agreement, beneficial ownership challenges in the equity finance area and various issues relating to the application of the UK Manufactured Overseas Dividend rules. He is currently working with a number of global banks and asset managers on FATCA implementation projects.
