Walking for Wildlife

by isleofman.com 28th September 2011
Two members of AXA Wealth International’s Marketing team, International Marketing Manager, Lesa Bates and her colleague, International Marketing Executive, Dyana Carrins, took part in this year’s Parish Walk to raise funds for the Manx Wildlife Trust. Both keen walkers, Lesa got to Rushen whilst Dyana stormed on to Peel. Between them they raised ?281 in sponsorship money and, in addition, Lesa and Dyana’s fundraising efforts were given a further boost by a donation of ?250 from AXA Wealth’s Hearts in Action Fund, resulting in an overall payment of ?531 to the Manx Wildlife Trust. Commenting on their achievements, Lesa said, “Dyana and I both enjoy walking in the local countryside. It’s a wonderful way to connect with nature and get fit for free. We’re also very much aware that the conservation of our beautiful Island’s natural heritage can’t just be left to chance and so we decided to enter the Parish Walk to raise money for the Manx Wildlife Trust, to help them in their efforts to protect Manx wildlife for the future.” Lesa went on to say, “We’re very grateful to all our friends and colleagues for their support and also to AXA Wealth. The Company actively encourages all staff to do what they can for local charities by allowing paid time off for volunteering and also supports staff fundraising activities with payments from its Hearts in Action Fund.” Receiving the money on behalf of the Manx Wildlife Trust, the nature conservation charity’s Fundraising and Wildlife Advocacy Officer, Anne Marie Kilgallon, said, “We’re absolutely delighted that Lesa and Dyana chose our charity as the beneficiary of their fundraising efforts and would like to thank them and everyone who supported them for thinking of us. Not content with their Parish Walk achievements, Lesa and Dyana have now set themselves the challenge of completing the 96 mile Raad ny Foillan and we wish them the best of luck with that.” Ends
