Gough Advocates Ranked At The Top

by isleofman.com 10th October 2011
The results of this year’s highly anticipated legal industry rankings from the respected directory “Legal 500” have just been released with encouraging news reported for local, boutique firm Gough Advocates. The Legal 500 rankings, along with several other league tables, provide external benchmarking of law firms’ capabilities and are widely referred to by commercial and private clients, corporate counsel, CEOs, FDs and professional advisers both nationally and internationally when selecting the most appropriate firm for their needs. This year’s results see the firm move up to the premier Tier One for Dispute Resolution on the Isle of Man (which places it alongside the larger firms of Appleby and Cains) as well as achieving Tier Two status for its Private Client & Trusts and Commercial Property work. The firm has also maintained its rankings in other areas such as Banking and Finance, Commercial, Employment and Investment Funds/Capital Markets. Within its report, Legal 500 describes Gough Advocates as; “Capable of delivering first class contentious advice” and “Able to bring business issues, as well as legal ones into consideration”. Managing Director, Paul Kerruish commented; “This is excellent progress for us. Our Chairman, Alan Gough is the widely accepted leader in the field of Dispute Resolution locally, so it is fantastic to see this reflected in our rankings. He can be justly proud of his and his team of talented litigators’ achievement in reaching the ranking of Tier One. Improving on, or maintaining our rankings across the company as a whole during these times of economic turmoil is testament to everybody’s hard work and demonstrates our commitment in continuing to be known as a top quality law firm and one that can boast one of the best litigation teams on the Island!” Over the years, Gough Advocates has become recognised as a firm that provides expert advice to high net worth individuals and businesses with complex disputes – a provision that supports the Government’s strategy for attracting new wealth to the Island. It has been widely documented that having a choice of quality law firms to offer prospective inward investors is a major strength to the Island’s appeal. Paul Kerruish, Managing Director adds; “ Not only do these latest results reflect very well on our own business, but in a wider context I hope that government can take the opportunity to capitalise on the Island’s increasingly sophisticated legal expertise as documented by Legal 500 and other sources, in its fight to win new business.” ENDS
