Win Apple Prizes at Manx Telecom Store Launch

by isleofman.com 11th October 2011
Manx Telecom’s new store in Strand Street will open with a chance for customers to win an iPhone 4, an Apple TV and two iPod Nanos. The first 30 customers through the door when the new store officially opens at 9am on Saturday October 15 will be given a QR code - similar to a bar code - which will guarantee them a prize. Customers simply scan their QR code with smartphones provided in store to find out which prize they have won. The prize list also includes digital cordless home phones, vouchers to spend in store, and Manx Telecom branded gifts. The new store - which is on the site of what used to be Maley’s chemist shop - is the result of a ?500,000 investment by Manx Telecom. David Smith, Marketing Director at Manx Telecom, said the new store will become a landmark shopping destination for the Island. He added: “We love the new store, and think our customers will too. It brings together all of Manx Telecom’s products and services under one roof in a modern, contemporary, retail environment where customers will be able to see, touch, and interact with the latest technology. Our aim has been for the store to reflect the heritage of both the Island and Manx Telecom, while creating a look, feel, and experience which will rival anything to be found in the UK.” With more space in the new store there will a greater number of demonstration areas and the company says that it will offer customers the widest range of handsets available on the Island. It replaces Manx Telecom’s two other shops with all of the staff in those two outlets now working under one roof. Chris Pycroft, Development Manager at Douglas Development Partnership, said the new store was a vote of confidence in the future of Douglas and its retail scene. He added: “The new Manx Telecom store not only breathes new life into a landmark building, but will also play a big role in Strand Street’s continuing revival.” In addition to opening the new store, Manx Telecom has recently unveiled new branding and launched its ultrafast Ultima broadband service which offers download speeds of up to 40Mbit/s and upload speeds of up to 2Mbit/s - considerably faster than the current top broadband speeds of 16Mbit/s and 832Kb/s. - ENDS -
