Treasure Map Leads To Holiday Fun for Morris Family

by isleofman.com 11th October 2011
A nose for unearthing buried treasure saw a Douglas family enjoy a summer break courtesy of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. The Morris family won first prize in a fundraising competition run by St John Ambulance at this year’s Royal Manx Agricultural Show. Visitors to the St John Ambulance site were invited to guess where the hoard was buried on a treasure map – and one of the Morris family guessed right! The family used the first prize – a travel voucher for a car plus two people – to book a family holiday in the UK. Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward explained: ‘We try to help as many organisations as possible with their fundraising efforts throughout the year. During 2010 we supported more than 100 events in a variety of ways we’ve continued that commitment throughout 2011.’ Pamela Crowe, a Volunteer Fundraiser with St John Ambulance, said: ‘We are extremely grateful to the Steam Packet Company for its kind support in helping us raise crucial funds.’ ENDS
