The successful exhibition of paintings by Michael Starkey documenting the TT mountain course over one hundred years is now available to view at the Erin Arts Centre. And today the artist will be in attendance at the Erin Arts Centre from 12.30pm to talk to people about the art work on display. ‘Racing Through Time’ is an exhibition of 20 paintings by Manx artist Michael Starkey commissioned by the Isle of Man Arts Council to commemorate the centenary of the Mountain Course in 2011. The complete collection of paintings was on display in Ramsey Town Hall from Manx Grand Prix fortnight and has now moved to the Erin Arts Centre until Friday 31 October. The Erin Arts Centre Arts Gallery is open Wednesday to Friday 10am until 4.30pm and admission is free. The paintings depict various points of the TT course throughout the decades since the TT began, showing how some of the course has changed considerably, while other sections of it remain the same as it always has done. Michael has undertaken extensive archive research to ensure the paintings are historically accurate. Local TT competitor Conor Cummins, who currently holds the record for being the fastest Manxman round the TT course, and Quintin Gill, Chairman of the Arts Council, opened the exhibition in Ramsey, which has been popular with residents and visitors. Now residents in the south of the island will have the chance to view this exhibition at the Erin Arts Centre.
