Douglas Borough Council requires a large quantity of good quality topsoil in order to progress the second phase of allotments on Johnny Watterson’s Lane. Leisure services committee chairman Councillor Stephen Pitts explained: ‘In creating the new lawn cemetery adjacent to the allotment site all available topsoil was used. Now, with the first phase of allotments fully tenanted and a waiting list of more than 100 applicants for phase two we need in the region of 2000 tonnes of topsoil.
