Topsoil Needed for Council’s Second Phase of Allotments

by isleofman.com 13th October 2011
Douglas Borough Council requires a large quantity of good quality topsoil in order to progress the second phase of allotments on Johnny Watterson’s Lane. Leisure services committee chairman Councillor Stephen Pitts explained: ‘In creating the new lawn cemetery adjacent to the allotment site all available topsoil was used. Now, with the first phase of allotments fully tenanted and a waiting list of more than 100 applicants for phase two we need in the region of 2000 tonnes of topsoil. We are therefore hoping developers or contractors will come forward and donate any surplus topsoil they may have in order that we can complete the project and allocate the remaining 26 plots.’ Offers of topsoil should be directed in the first instance to the assistant chief executive, Douglas Town Hall, Ridgeway Street, Douglas, IM99 1AD, enquiries@douglas.gov.im. Telephone 696300. ENDS
