Pharmaceutical company Medis has appointed Oliver Tomlinson as a Regulatory Affairs Assistant. Oliver, 18, has just finished his A-levels at Ramsey Grammar, where he studied Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology. He is hoping to go on to study medicine at university next year, and in the meantime he will be employed by Medis on a rolling contract to help him gain some pharmaceutical experience. Oliver is excited at the prospect of gaining some applicable work experience and said:
“I look forward to being part of the team that continues to help make the Actavis group such a successful and prosperous organisation. It is a fantastic opportunity to get some hands on experience in the pharmaceutical industry, given my desire to study medicine, I am really grateful to Medis for this opportunity.”
Oliver will be assisting the Regulatory Affairs Specialists within Medis, and will be introduced to areas of the pharmaceutical industry including compliance, overseeing artwork, legal regulation and pharmaceutical promotion. Stuart Colligon, Managing Director of Medis said:
“Oliver is a very bright and capable young student and we are happy to contribute in any way we can to his future development. He clearly has an active interest in this field and we feel he can bring a lot to the role. In return, we hope that we can help him further progress in his chosen study of medicine.”
Oliver’s appointment is the latest example of Medis providing opportunities for students with an interest in the pharmaceutical industry. The company has run an undergraduate sponsorship scheme which makes a financial contribution to one student’s university costs every year. Medis also offers work experience placements to local students.
