Passengers on the Ben-my-Chree and Manannan have raised ?900 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. Four RNLI volunteers held collections on board each of our vessels, with the money raised going to the Isle of Man branch of the RNLI to assist with its five lifeboat stations in Douglas, Port St Mary, Port Erin, Peel and Ramsey. Steve Buttery, Chairman of the Isle of Man RNLI, said: ‘We’d like to thank the Steam Packet Company for allowing our volunteers the opportunity to carry out the collection. We’ve done this on several occasions in the past, and this year’s total is the most we’ve ever raised. It indicates how popular our charity is with the general public, even in these difficult financial times.’ Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘The RNLI carries out sterling work throughout the Irish Sea and beyond, so as a company we are happy to support them in a number of ways, the most recent of which has been the on-board collections.’ ENDS
