An RNLI volunteer won the big prize in a competition to celebrate the official opening of Manx Telecom’s flagship new store.
Juan Howland, Deputy Second Coxswain of the Douglas lifeboat, was one of around 50 customers who queued up outside the store to be in with a chance of winning prizes including an iPhone 4, an Apple TV and two iPod Nanos. The first 30 customers through the door when the new store opened on Saturday (October 15) were given a QR code - similar to a bar code - which guaranteed them a prize. Customers simply scanned their QR code with smartphones provided in store to find out which prize they have won. The first customers in the queue were there at 4.50am. Juan said he was delighted to be the lucky winner of the iPhone 4 and, as well as Apple prizes, other customers won vouchers to spend in store and Manx Telecom branded souvenirs.
Sarah Creighton, Manx Telecom’s Manager of Retail Operations, said:
“It was great to see so many people eager to take part in the competition and see our new store. There was a real buzz in the store on Saturday and we are grateful to all of the customers who helped us to celebrate the official opening.”
The new store is the result of a ?500,000 investment by Manx Telecom and features a ‘Home Hub’ - where customers can use the latest technology on offer - and a ‘Techbench’ area for expert advice on all of Manx Telecom’s products and services.
