2011 marks the 90th Anniversary of the founding of TRBL. There are two major events due to mark the anniversary
‘The Angel and the Fallen’ – Villa Marina – Poster att.
This is a major concert and act of remembrance. The Musical Director is Dr John Bethell and the Lord Bishop is to lead the Service. Lt Gov and political figures are to attend. The standards of TRBL and Military Associations will be paraded together with representatives of the various military charities. 12 Regiment Royal Artillery (the Island’s associated unit) is sending a contingent of regular soldiers.
The title ‘The Angel and The Fallen’ has been taken from a series of concerts which have been held in the great cathedrals of England throughout the TRBL 90th year. Inspiration for the title is taken from a memorial in N France . The concerts have been directed in England by John & Tiggy Underhill whose brainchild ‘Angel’ was.
They are to be guests at our ‘Angel’
The event has been generously sponsored by Boston Ltd through the Moore Family charitable foundation. The concert has an emphasis on the youth of the Island. There is also an art exhibition to display works submitted by our schools in competitions sponsored by Boston and Scottish Widows.
The date could not be more appropriate 11/11/11
Journey’s End – Gaiety Theatre 17-19 Nov
As the final event of the TRBL 90th, the Legion Players are staging this poignant WWI drama written by R C Sherriff. The Legion Players have re-ignited their historical connection with TRBL during the year.
