NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health

by isleofman.com 24th October 2011
The Department of Economic Development’s Employment and Skills Group is pleased to announce the launch of its first NEBOSH National Diploma training course. NEBOSH, the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, is the leading awarding body in its field in the UK and this qualification is seen as the ‘Gold Standard’ for Health and Safety professionals. The aim of the course is to give the knowledge and understanding needed to effectively carry out the duties of an occupational health and safety practitioner. It equips holders to advise on effective management of risk across a range of employment sectors. The programme commences on the 6th January 2012 and delegates will attend one day per week over a period of 36 weeks, undertaking examinations for each of the four course modules. Dudley Butt MLC, Political Member for the Employment and Skills Group, said: ‘The Department of Economic Development continues to play an important role in training and the NEBOSH Diploma will undoubtedly benefit organisations who are seeking to implement good safety management in their workplace.’ Andy Stewart, Training Services Manager for the Employment and Skills Group, said: ‘The Employment and Skills Group supports a wide range of vocational training through the facilitation of bespoke courses and the provision of financial assistance. This ensures that high quality, industry recognised training is available locally, with full tutor support, and is accessible by employers who would otherwise find travelling to the UK or bringing training providers to the Island unviable.’ Financial assistance has been applied to the delivery costs of the NEBOSH Diploma, which enables places to be offered at just ?1800 + VAT. Due to the length and intensity of the NEBOSH Diploma, it is anticipated that courses will only be held once every two or three years. As this is the first course to be offered on the Island, there is expected to be a very high demand. Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to contact the Department of Economic Development Employment and Skills Group at the earliest opportunity to secure their place.
