Isle of Man Railways Launch Facebook Page

by isleofman.com 26th October 2011
Transport enthusiasts can get on the inside track to the latest information about Isle of Man Railways by joining their new Facebook page. Launched today at www.facebook.com/isleofmanrailways the site will provide easily accessible information ranging from railway timetables and fares to videos and photos of special events. It will be linked to the notice board page on the current www.iombusandrail.info website to also provide updates about bus services. It is also planned to include details of railways souvenirs on the page plus information about multi journey tickets and other discounts available. Richard Little, IoM Railways Marketing Manager, explained: ‘The idea is that our Facebook page will provide fans with behind the scenes insights and photos of workshop activities plus all the information people need when they are looking for something to do for the best price. It will allow railways enthusiasts to upload their own videos and pictures to share with others and we hope it will prove popular with both residents and visitors. We are looking forward to it encouraging fans to interact between themselves as well as with us at Railways. ’ Isle of Man Public Transport is the fifth area of the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure to start a facebook page. The Curraghs Wildlife Park, the National Sports Centre, Manx Sport and Recreation and the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre already use this form of social media. ENDS
