Peel Lifeboat Launched

by isleofman.com 31st October 2011
Peel Lifeboat launched just after midnight Saturday 29th October to assist an ex- Liverpool Pilot cutter which was in difficulty west of the Point of Ayre. With wind gusting to force 8 the vessel, with two crew on board, was located after a two hour search some ten nautical miles south of the Mull of Galloway. A fractured fuel pipe had resulted in engine failure for the 14 metre long vessel whilst on passage from Liverpool to Wick. The vessel was taken in tow by the Lifeboat and was brought safely alongside Peel breakwater at 0545 following a long tow in to strong head winds. The two crew remained on board the casualty throughout. ENDS
