Moore Stephens and Jody Hill - A Paralympic Dream

by isleofman.com 31st October 2011
Moore Stephens Isle of Man, leading providers of accountancy, consultancy and multi-sector wealth management services, in its capacity as presenting sponsors of the YachtInfo event in Fort Lauderdale, USA today announced its sponsorship of captain Jody Hill in his bid to represent the USA in the London 2012 Paralympics. As lead sponsor for Jody, the firm will help him in his personal Go-For-Gold with essentials including logistics, website and social media, an improved boat, sails, other equipment and professional personal coaching, all to give him the edge over his competitors. “We consider it an honour to be supporting someone who will not give up and instead tries to help others,” said Clive Dixon, partner of Moore Stephens Isle of Man, “Jody is an inspiration to everyone, especially those dealing with physical challenges.” Jody was captain of sailing yacht FLICKA in 2006 when he was involved in a car accident on the Caribbean Island of Tortola, BVI. He was left paralysed from the chest down ending a 13 year professional career that had taken him all over the world. Worse still, he had no insurance which impacted on the treatment available to him. Once home he then underwent 100 days of hospitalisation and rehabilitation. Less than two years after becoming paralysed he was living on board a 24ft sloop helping others with disabilities cope via the freedom, thrill, serenity and feeling of independence and accomplishment that sailing brings him. “I’ve been sailing all my life and really couldn’t see why I should have to give up,” says Jody, “But I also understand first-hand what others in similar circumstances are going through, that’s why I set up Positive Sailing. I am truly blessed by Moore Stephens generous sponsorship and hope that I will do them proud.” You can follow Jody’s progress on his website, www.jodyhill2012.com, Twitter, http://twitter.com/jodyhill2012 and Facebook, http://goo.gl/ewyKy. Moore Stephens Isle of Man offers a broad range of services including personal wealth management and financial planning, fiduciary services, trust and company administration, yachting and aviation services, corporate pensions and personal retirement solutions, investigations and forensic, audit and assurance, accounting, corporate recovery, taxation advice and consulting and HR services, all under one roof.
