Ghostgirl (cert 12) and other short films with local film maker Dave Armstrong
On Wednesday 09 November, Films in Peel at the Centenary Centre, will be presenting a short film called Ghostgirl (cert 12) by local talented film maker Dave Armstrong.
This film has only been screened for a public audience twice, as part of the Isle of Man Film Festival, and at the New York United Film Festival 2010. Filmed entirely on the Isle of Man and using mostly local talent, this film was written and directed by Dave and supported by the Isle of Man Arts Council (also supporting this event). Local newcomer Chelsea Gowland was chosen to play Marley, the lead role. For those interested in the more technical side of film making, Dave stirred up quite a buzz online as he chose to film Ghostgirl on the Canon 5D HDSLRR, essentially a stills camera.
At the Films in Peel event, Dave, along with partner Christy De Haven and producer Phil Gates, will present several other shorts before showing Ghostgirl. These will be locally produced, or made by Manx film makers outside of the Isle of Man. The audience will also be shown some exclusive 'behind the scenes' footage. Dave and Phil will talk about the making of Ghostgirl and there will be a Q&A session after the screening.
The event starts at 7:45pm, doors open at 7:15pm. Tickets cost ?4 (?3 concs) and are available from Celtic Gold in Peel or on the door unless sold out. Reservation tickets with seat guarantee (payment on the door) are also available from Mostly Manx (Douglas), Shakti Man ( Ramsey) and Thompson Travel (Port Erin).
