A lucky couple from the Isle of Man were among some of the first passengers on the newly resumed Manx2.com Saturday service from the Isle of Man to Newcastle Airport last weekend.
Chris Quine and his partner Michelle Stevens spent the weekend in North-East England, after winning two return tickets in a radio competition on Friday.
The new Saturday service departs the Isle of Man at 1055 and returns from Newcastle at 1325. The flight was introduced in response to many requests from passengers to increase weekend frequency, allowing travellers to get there before noon. There are also daily return flights to the destination on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Chris said: ‘We hadn’t realised there would be so much to do in Newcastle. Whether you are into sport, shopping, the arts or nightlife, there is something for everyone. We spent time taking in some Christmas Shopping at the Eldon Square Shopping Centre, sampling the lively nightlife and walking down by the River Tyne, including the Millennium Bridge, over to the Baltic Centre in Gateshead.
‘Thank you to Manx2.com for giving us this opportunity to visit the North-East of England. The team at Manx2 treated us like royalty and we had a fantastic time both in the air and on the ground.’
Manx2.com Business Development Executive, Ann Hartley, said: ‘We’re delighted Chris and Michelle had such a wonderful time in the North-East. There’s always plenty to do in and around Newcastle and this additional flight will both add capacity on the route and give passengers more options.’
Ticket prices start from ?49.95 (including all charges) one way and are available from www.manx2.com.
