This weeks Worcester scratch round saw yet more personal best being broken nine in total these came from Frank Vaughan, Robert Lott, Colin Moore, Barbara Harris, Karen Lott, Kirsten George, Bradley Layton, Adam Wright and Meghan Pilley. In the gent’s recurve Dave Berry had a bad start and blow the first half of the shoot and still topped the podium from Frank Vaughan who on the other hand had a fantastic shoot breaking his PB with five arrow left to shoot closely followed by Robert Lott who also put in a fantastic shoot to beat his PB also. In the gent’s compound Peter Mumford topped the podium once again but with Colin Moore improving the way he is putting in yet another PB Mumford will have to look over his shoulder. In the ladies compound Sarah Rigby had a great battle with Aalin George with the two swapping the lead six times only for George to drop one point in the last end to give Rigby the top step of the podium and a big battle for the last spot on the podium between Joy Gough and Kirsten George and even on count back the girls couldn’t be separated so had to share the third step. In the Ladies recurve Barbara Harris puts in another great PB to top the podium from Karen Lott who also was on a charge putting in a fantastic PB, and in the juniors Bradley Layton top the podium from a battling Adam Wright with both putting in great PB’s closely followed by Charlotte Harris pitting up the last podium spot with Meghan Pilley just behind shooting this round for the first time. Missed from the local field this week were the husband and wife team of Jon and Anne Rutland who have both travelled off Island to compete in the Lancashire Archery Association 35th Indoor Championships at Preston where Anne Scores 59 25 542 to finish 4th and a miss which could of placed her 2nd Jon put in a PB 60 19 537 and with that they won the Jack and Jill trophy. Also all club members are reminded that The Isle of Man Archery Club will be holding their 2011 Outdoor Season Prize Presentation on the evening of Thursday 24th November at the Ronaldsway Social Club 7.30 pm for a prompt start at 8.00 pm any donations of prizes would be most welcome. The 2011 rankings have been released by Archery GB and the Isle of Man Archery Association is delighted to announce that 15yr old Aalin George has been ranked as No. 1 Junior Compound archer in GB. In addition she has gained a senior ranking of 16th. It has been confirmed that Aalin has retained her place on the GB Junior Squad for the coming year and she will also receive an invitation to attend a Senior selection shoot. Not to be outdone, younger sister Kirsten who is 14 years old has been ranked 4th in the Junior Compound rankings and 40th in the seniors. Kirsten has also just received confirmation that she has also been accepted onto the GB Junior Squad for the coming year. An outstanding achievement for the Island to have two Manx archers in the GB Junior Archery Squad in 2012. Sincere congratulations to the two George sisters from all the coaches and all members of the Isle of Man Archery Club. ENDS
