With just a few weeks left to go until Christmas, now is the time to start thinking about how you’re going to decorate your home this year. For some great inspiration, join Manx National Heritage’s Christmas floristry workshops at the House of Manannan which offer two great opportunities to perfect your Christmas arrangements!
On Saturday 19th November, enjoy a traditional ‘Christmas Wreath Making Workshop’ and make your very own classic door decoration to provide a warm welcome to visitors over the festive season.
For all those who love fine dining, learn how to transform your Christmas table and impress your dinner guests in the ‘Traditional Table Centre Workshop’, which takes place on Saturday 26th November. A workshop not to be missed!
Both these special workshops will be delivered by professional florist Heidi Baker of the Flower Studio in St Johns. Heidi has a reputation for fusing contemporary floristry with natural charm and uses only the highest quality materials. She is the only Manx florist to be registered under the ‘Fair Flower, Fair Plants’ initiative, which encourages the sale of flowers and plants that have been cultivated in a sustainable manner, a policy which Manx National Heritage is pleased to support.
Margaret Jones, Site Manager at the House of Manannan said:
“Whether you are already familiar with flower arranging or you have never touched a flower before, you will definitely create a lovely display to take home and be proud of”.
Workshops take place between 2pm and 4pm and cost ?30 per person, including all materials, festive refreshments and you take home your own handmade items! Pre-booking is required and tickets are available from the House of Manannan on Peel Quayside.
The Christmas floristry workshops are part of a series of festive events taking place at the House of Manannan this year and will be followed by a Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday 3rd December. This will showcase locally made produce, accompanied by traditional festive music and refreshments. There will be children’s craft activities including lantern crafts for Peel Lantern Parade which will gather for judging on the House of Manannan forecourt at 3.30pm, plus Santa will be in residence in his grotto (grotto entry ?2 per child).
Entry to the Christmas Fair costs ?3 per adult or ?1.50 for children and members of the Friends of Manx National Heritage.
There will also be festive felting workshops on Saturday 10th December from 10am to 12 noon and 2pm to 4pm (felting workshop recommended for children aged 8 and over). Tickets for the felting workshops are priced at ?7.50 per child and all children will make a beautiful felt Christmas decoration to take home.
