The Conspirator is a 2010 movie that was directed by Robert Redford and stars James McAvoy and Robin Wright. Other well known faces include Tom Wilkinson, Kevin Kline and Danny Huston. The film is an historical drama and tells the story of the seven men and one woman arrested after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in 1865. They are charged with conspiring to kill the President, the Vice-President, and the Secretary of State. The only woman is Mary Surratt, owner of a boarding house where John Wilkes Booth and others met and planned the attacks. The film is set in post-Civil War Washington and shows the trial of Mary Surratt before a military tribunal, defended by a young lawyer, played by British actor James McAvoy.
