Marsh Receives Isle of Man First from Chartered Insurance Institute

by isleofman.com 14th November 2011
Marsh (Isle of Man) Limited today celebrates being the first Manx insurance broker to achieve ‘Chartered Insurance Broker’ status from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). Marsh (Isle of Man) Limited is part of Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker and risk adviser and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies. Chartered Insurance Broker status is awarded to qualifying companies by the CII following a highly rigorous assessment process. As part of its submission, Marsh was required to demonstrate its commitment to raising standards of professional knowledge and ethical practice among colleagues for the benefit of the clients it serves in the Isle of Man. Sarah Hewitt, CEO of Marsh (Isle of Man) Limited, commented: ‘Marsh places a great deal of emphasis on nurturing and developing its colleagues, equipping them with the skills they need to work to the highest professional standards globally. ‘We’re very proud to be the first recipients of the CII’s Chartered Insurance Broker status in the Isle of Man. The award is testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, who continually strive to be the best at what they do and deliver against our clients’ expectations.’ Dr Alexander Scott, CEO of the CII, said: ‘We are delighted that Marsh has embraced the challenges of Chartered Insurance Broker status. Their attainment of the profession’s “gold standard” sets them apart from their peers and evidences their ongoing commitment to higher standards of professional and ethical behaviour.’ Achieving Chartered Insurance Broker status from the CII is the latest in a string of successes for Marsh in the Isle of Man. Earlier this year, prominent Manx businessman Ken Watterson was appointed as a Non-Executive Director; and in 2010, the firm celebrated 35 years of providing risk and insurance services to the Isle of Man’s leading businesses. Marsh also operates a highly successful captive management team which is led by Derek Patience, past chairman of the Isle of Man Captive Association. ENDS
