Regency Travel Italian Partnership for Isle of Man TT 2012

by isleofman.com 14th November 2011
Regency Travel the official Isle of Man TT Travel Partner has agreed a co-operative partnership to offer a shared charter flight bringing 148 Italian TT fans to TT 2012 which is seen as a major boost to the festival. The deal will see Regency Travel look after the on island arrangements for the Italian visitors while at the same time offer Isle of Man residents the opportunity to escape the TT and holiday direct from the island to the Italian Lakes and the historic city of Bergamo which is just hours from Venice and Milan. The flight in partnership with Italian company Cinehollywood who are based in Milan, will operate on Friday 1st June 2012 and return on Friday 08th June 2012 offering a full weeks escape for local residents or a full race week stay for many Italians. It is believed to be the first time such a partnership has been arranged for the TT and is hoped to be the first of many. Tony Lawrence of Regency Travel who has just returned from Milan to finalise the deal and to visit the Milan Bike Show stated how the agreement came about “We were approached just before TT 2011 about the possibility of sharing a charter flight from Milan. The deal enables us to fill up empty legs which are a problem when offering direct charter flights from the Isle of Man” he continues “This flight is a big boost for the TT and we have already had approaches from other possible destinations across Europe looking to do something similar”. With TT coverage and TT3D now being shown around the world demand from Sports Operators looking to bring groups to the Isle of Man TT is growing and more deals like this are in the offing. “Bringing such flights to the TT does create problems in relation to bed space.” Tony explained “We have been in talks, for a number of months with a company called ‘Snoozebox’ who offer a temporary accommodation solution and we believe this will fill some of the problems and enable us to meet every growing demand”. Regency Travel is also in talks and hopes to have news within the next month regarding a possible ‘Official TT Tented Village’ during the TT festival, details will be released once the final agreement is in place.
