On Saturday 26 November, Age Concern, British Red Cross, Crossroads Caring for Carers, Hospice, Manx Mencap, MSPCA, Oxfam and Save the Children will take to the stage, or rather the runway, in the Villa Marina Arcade, each showcasing a collection of day wear, office wear, evening wear and festive party wear outfits from their charity shops.
Audience members will get to vote for their favourite collection of outfits. The charity with the largest number of votes will then be crowned Queen of Charity Shops and will house the trophy until next year.
The evening’s entertainment will be compered by this years Manx Stars in their Eyes winner David Lyons, who will also sing a few Michael Buble classics, and Rebecca Lawrence, who you may be more familiar with as Dorothy Gale from Taylorian Productions Wizard of OZ. Gena Turpin dancers will also perform during the interval of the catwalk show.
All outfits will be auctioned in aid of the several local causes and the Isle of Man College's Art and Design Department will show us how to transform our tired wardrobes with Wardrobe Surgery, both on the catwalk and throughout the night.
The Cosmetic Medical Centre, Emma MacDonald (hair), Avon, Pomegranate, Glitter Mine and top make up artist Barbara Coney Mua will also be providing cosmetic demonstrations and offering perfect pamper Christmas presents for men and women.
