by isleofman.com 15th November 2011
The Department of Economic Development is pleased to announce the launch of its 2012 Visitor Guide. This year the Department has commissioned new photographs and the publication boasts a new bright, fresh colour scheme. The cover photo of Corrins Folley, captured by Andy North, promotes the diverse beauty and expanse of the Island’s countryside. Inside it describes all the attractions the Isle of Man has to offer as well as the accommodation advertisements traditionally featured in the second section. The Guide is an important marketing tool for the Isle of Man’s Industry partners and promotes their businesses throughout. Minister for the Department of Economic Development, John Shimmin MHK, said: ‘We are delighted to launch this year’s Visitor Guide which showcases the very best our beautiful Island has to offer. Each year we continue to make improvements to the content and again we’ve pulled out all the stops to make sure that all aspects of the Isle of Man are covered to attract visitors, from our great heritage attractions, unique vintage transport, stunning landscape and adventurous outdoor activities to accommodation, award winning produce and eating establishments.’ He went on to say: ‘I am looking forward to an exciting year for tourism in 2012 and confident that our Visitor Guide will encourage people to visit the Isle of Man.’ The Department of Economic Development Member with responsibility for Tourism, Geoff Corkish, MBE, MHK said: ‘Most importantly, I would like to thank our Tourism Industry partners who share with us their passion and enthusiasm. The high standards they achieve make the Isle of Man the quality destination that is it is today and makes the 2012 Tourism Guide a very important selling tool for our visitors, highlighting attractions and year round events such as the TT, Isle of Man Walking Festival, Adventure Week, Crown Green Bowling, Darts Festivals and so much more.’ 100,000 copies, published by Mannin Media Group, will be distributed free of charge to any potential visitor who requests one during 2012. They will be distributed widely in the UK and Ireland through various marketing activities staged during the year. Isle of Man residents are encouraged to pick up a copy of the new glossy 66 page Visitor Guide from the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal and send it to their friends and families to introduce them to the wealth of attractions, activities and events we have on offer next year and entice them to visit. It can also be viewed online at www.visitisleofman.com and any visitors interested in receiving a copy can order one by visiting the website or by telephoning 01624 686801. Ends
