by isleofman.com 15th November 2011
A squad of 23 Team Royal London 360 riders travelled to the Newport velodrome in Wales during the recent half-term holiday for two days of track training with top professional coach Steve Bonnici. The team spent a total of 14 hours on the track honing their pursuiting, sprinting, time trialing, madison and derny racing skills. All the Manx youngsters performed well, with Jake Kelly, Matthew Draper, Thomas Bostock, Max Walker, Will Draper, Charlie Gibson, Sophie Black, Elizabeth Holden, Josh Knights, Dan Scarffe, Conor Davies, Michael Moss, Adam Kelly and Conor Gelling coming out on top in a series of exhibition races, including individual time trials, flying 200s and team time trials. One of the highlights of the trip was a two hour session with Team Sky superstar Geraint Thomas and fellow Welsh riders Owain Doull, Luke Rowe and Jon Mould. The session was part of a charity track day run by Geraint in association with Newport City Council, Seren PR and Welsh Cycling. ENDS
