Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, charity collection box from Braddan Church between 9am on Thursday 10th November and Midday on Saturday 12th November. PC 85 Bryn Griffith stated ‘This was a despicable and callous theft; I cannot understand why someone would commit such a terrible act. It is obvious that the person who has done this has no respect. I would urge any person who has knowledge of this incident to inform the Police. This can be done by calling the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111 if they wish to remain anonymous.’ Inspector Mark Britton from the Eastern Neighbourhood Policing Team stated ‘This is a deplorable act and one which leaves me feeling sick to the pit of my stomach. This person needs to look to themselves and what they have done. Those who have given their lives so others can be free, it is atrocious. PC 85 Griffith can be contacted at Onchan Police Station on 675190 or on the Isle of Man Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111. ENDS
