KPMG Announces Speakers for eGaming Summit

KPMG Isle of Man has announced the speaker line-up for its second annual eGaming Summit on the island. It includes a variety of key players from companies within the industry, leading service providers and the Isle of Man Government. The Summit will be held on Tuesday 22nd November at the Mount Murray Hotel on the Isle of Man. Key stakeholders and decision makers will attend, by invitation, to consider and debate the challenges and opportunities facing the sector locally and globally. The summit will be opened by the Honourable Allan Bell, Chief Minister. The morning session, entitled ‘A Safe Place to Play in 2011’, will commence with a sector update from the Isle of Man Government’s Gambling Supervision Commission and Department of Economic Development, provided by Steve Brennan and Garth Kimber. Following that, Malcolm Couch, the Isle of Man Government Assessor of Income Tax, will give an update on taxation in the Isle of Man and Clive Hawkswood of the Remote Gambling Association will talk about how EU regulators see the Isle of Man as a jurisdiction for potential mutual recognition of standards. Finally, Mike Camburn of KPMG will consider the UK intention to tax on a consumption basis. This will be followed by a panel to debate whether the Isle of Man can ever be a rival to Gibraltar and Malta. Following lunch, the afternoon session ‘A Safe Bet in Future?’ will be opened by KPMG’s Head of eGaming, Archie Watt, and will include delegates and speakers from off-island and the press, looking at global challenges and developments for the sector. Warwick Bartlett, Chief Executive of Global Betting & Gambling Consultants will be speaking on fragmentation of Europe and closing or opening of the US. Lawrence Hoover of People Dimensions in eGaming Training and Micky Swindale Associate Director at KPMG will address talent management and retention for a maturing industry. Darach Ennis, Chief Solutions Architect at Push Technology will discuss why now is the time for mobile gaming followed by a panel on the future of hosting. As the final speaker of the day, Stephen Winter from PokerStars will discuss fraud prevention and detection in the industry. The afternoon will end with a panel session moderated by Russell Kelly of KPMG allowing delegates to discuss the economic outlook for gaming. The summit will be closed by John Shimmin MHK, Minister for Economic Development. Following the summit delegates will go straight to evening drinks and canapes hosted by Conister Bank.
