Isle of Man’s Premier Offering Showcased In Asia

by isleofman.com 17th November 2011
The Isle of Man’s offering as a well respected international business centre was showcased in Asia through a series of high profile events, attended by more than 800 professionals. Leading global fiduciary services provider The ILS Group, in partnership with the Department of Economic Development, Capital International and Appleby Global, promoted the Island's reputation as an established platform for business success and prosperity, at an exclusive Isle of Man focused event within the China Offshore Summit in Shanghai, China, on October 26 and 27. The four strong brands joined forces to showcase their services in a special half-day event entitled “The International Tool Kit: Achieve your wealth management goals through international offshore structures and investments”, which was held on the first afternoon of the two-day summit in a private conference room just outside of the main exhibition area. More than 70 Chinese professionals attended the exclusive seminar. Using the case study of a successful high net worth Chinese professional named Mr Wang, the seminar depicted the entrepreneur’s life and growing wealth in conjunction with Isle of Man case studies and solutions to help him, and other high net worth individuals, achieve their wealth management goals through international offshore structures and investments. The ILS Group was a gold sponsor at the China Offshore Summit, which was attended by more than 350 Chinese professionals, entrepreneurs and financial intermediaries, with the Isle of Man Government sponsoring the bronze package and Capital International taking the tea and coffee break sponsorship. The China Offshore Summit included presentations, workshops and panel discussions, which addressed the most pressing issues in China’s outbound offshore investments, including a 30 minute presentation from The ILS Group Chief Executive Officer Chris Eaton on maximising trade and investment using onshore and offshore centres. Chris said: “This was a significant opportunity for The ILS Group and we were delighted to attend such a high profile event and join forces with the Isle of Man Government, Capital International and Appleby Global to showcase the Isle of Man and ILS’s comprehensive range of global fiduciary services. “In terms of wealth Asia-Pacific is the third biggest in the world with more than 40,000 UHNW individuals controlling total assets of $6.2trnm, and it’s expected to surpass Europe in 2024 and the US in 2032. These figures continue to reinforce the importance of Asia and the potential it holds for the Isle of Man.” The two day summit gathered China’s leading financial intermediaries with the international trust companies, bankers, lawyers and corporate service providers for an exclusive and in-depth conference examining the full spectrum of investment, trade and wealth management coming out of China. China Offshore Director Matthew Sumner said: “The presence of The ILS Group, Department of Economic Development, Capital International and Appleby Global proved to be of great interest to our Chinese delegates. The Isle of Man is an established international finance centre with a secure base built upon political stability, economic independence, low taxation and a firmly established fiscal and regulatory environment, and we were delighted to promote the Island’s unique offering to our audience. “The success and the feedback received from the China Offshore Summit has been overwhelming and as such will be hosting two further Summits in 2012, designed to explain to China’s top financial intermediaries how they can benefit from the unique asset management and corporate product offerings available in the world’s international offshore financial centres. We look forward to once again welcoming The ILS Group as Gold sponsors of the Summit Series in 2012 and to continuing to promote the Isle of Man as a major international finance centre.” Following the Summit, The ILS Group and Department of Economic Development further took the Manx message to Asia by exhibiting at the prestigious Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Asia conference in Singapore on November 1 and 2. The conference broke all previous records with more than 450 delegates attending. Group Marketing Manager of The ILS Group Kara McCabe said: “For ILS these events proved a great success as we were able to meet and promote our global offering to more than 800 Asian and international professionals. As a gold sponsor at the China Offshore Summit, we were also able to showcase our expertise through Chris’ speaking opportunity and panel discussion. “As Asia-Pacific prepares to welcome more members into the UHNW club, there are tremendous opportunities for wealth professionals in helping Asia’s future UHNW amass their wealth, grow their fortunes for future generations and their legacy. As such The ILS Group is committed to promoting its services and the Isle of Man as an established platform for business success and prosperity in Asia and we look forward to returning as Gold sponsor of the China Offshore Summit series of conferences in 2012, in Beijing in April and Shanghai in October.” To attend or sponsor the China Offshore Summit Series in 2012 please contact spencer.hall@mxmedia.com.hk or visit www.chinaoffshore.com.hk Ends
