Christmas Takes To The Streets In Douglas

by isleofman.com 18th November 2011
Christmas is taking to the streets in Douglas in the run up to Christmas with an outdoor Christmas ‘emporium’ every Thursday and Sunday. Organised by Douglas Development Partnership each emporium event, which will be held the full length of Castle Street and Marina Road, will showcase some of the finest and fabulously festive products the Isle of Man has to offer, from cup cakes to candy floss, Christmas cards to Christmas puddings, delectable delicatessen dishes and much more. Douglas town centre manager Gill Anderson said: ‘The Christmas emporium is the essential place to be for distinctively different gifts, festive food and entertainment…and with free parking every Thursday evening from now until Christmas in the Bottleneck and Shaw’s Brow car parks and on Douglas Promenade walkway Douglas is the destination for Christmas shopping with a difference. We’re also grateful to the Department of Economic Development for attracting a number of small businesses who have benefited from its small business start-up scheme to participate.’ Prices are ?10 for a half stall, ?20 for a full stall supplied by Douglas Development Partnership which will also provide tables for merchandise. The Christmas emporium on Thursday November 24 will be officially opened at 5pm by Laurence Skelly, MHK, Department of Economic Development member with responsibility for retail. Subsequent emporia will be open from 5pm to 9pm on Thursdays and from 12noon to 5pm on Sundays. For further details and to book a stall contact Douglas town centre manager Gill Anderson at Douglas Development Partnership, 7-13 Victoria Street, Douglas. 612022. ganderson@douglas.org.im. ENDS
