Best-selling novelist Lyn Andrews will reveal the secrets of ‘A Life in Literature’ at the latest Author’s Breakfast, organised by the Isle of Man Fund for the Blind. Lyn is the latest literary great to lend her support to the charity, following in the footsteps of such luminaries as Val McDermid, Magnus Magnusson and Alison Weir The 2011 Author’s Breakfast, at the Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club, Santon, from 9.30am on Monday 12th December, costs just ?22, which includes a full English Breakfast. The Author’s Breakfast is organised by Isle of Man Fund for the Blind to raise funds for the Manx Blind Welfare Society. Chairman of the Society, Deemster Jack Corrin said the charity was delighted to have secured Lyn for the event. He said: “Lyn Andrews is one of the UK’s best-selling authors, a prolific writer whose works have delighted millions of readers for many years.” “We are very privileged to welcome her to the 18th Author’s Breakfast, and I am sure it will be one of the most fascinating yet.” Lyn Andrews is ranked in the top 100 best-selling paperback authors in the United Kingdom. Renowned for her vibrant, heart-rending novels, her popularity continues to soar – her last paperback was a Sunday Times Top 10 best seller for several weeks. Her hotly-anticipated new book, Beyond a Misty Shore, is due for publication on 6th December and will hopefully be available at the Author’s Breakfast The Manx Blind Welfare Society, which is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year, looks after the interests of more than 500 people with serious sight loss in the Island. Since it started in 1936, the work of the Society has changed and grown considerably to keep pace with the needs and aspirations of the people it supports, with the chief aim of recognising each person as an individual. Based at Corrin Court, Onchan, the Society offers a talking book library, a recording studio producing a weekly news service, computer training room, specialist equipment room and a spacious dining and social room. The Society also provides home and hospital visits and social events throughout the year. Apart from a subsidised charge for lunches and afternoon teas, its services are provided free, so fundraising events like the Author’s Breakfast are essential in supporting the Society’s ongoing work. Tickets for the Author’s Breakfast are available on 621806 ENDS
