Christmas Craft Fayre At The House of Manannan

by isleofman.com 22nd November 2011
Peel is in for a very special treat this Christmas as Saturday 3rd December sees the annual Christmas Craft Fayre at the House of Manannan in Peel with a traditional Christmas craft market, children’s craft activities, festive music and of course a special visitor in his Grotto. Throughout the day children have the opportunity to make their own Christmas tree decorations, design their own Christmas cards, decorated cup cakes and make colourful Christmas lanterns for the Lantern Competition and Parade which will begin at the House of Manannan forecourt. The House of Manannan will also be the destination for discerning shoppers with our new beautiful ranges in our Christmas Shop with some gifts only available from MNH, and varied craft stalls throughout the building selling locally handmade items for that special Christmas present, including jewellery, glassware, art and textiles. Despite a tight schedule and secrecy regarding his movements, there have been rumours Father Christmas will be visiting The House of Manannan from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm, with a sack of presents for children attending the event. 3FM’s Santa’s Little Helpers will also be on site from 11am to 1pm to receive donations of toys for the Children’s Centre. Margaret Jones of the House of Manannan said; “This is a festive event for all the family to enjoy. Adults will have the opportunity to purchase exclusive Christmas gifts from our Christmas Shop and the many crafts stalls whilst the children are kept busy by craft workshops. Seasonal refreshments will be on sale including a non-alcoholic mulled punch and mince pies served by the Friends of Manx National Heritage. Festive music and lights will fill the air and following the judging of the Lantern competition the Peel Lantern procession will leave the forecourt to parade through the streets to the switch on of the Peel Christmas lights.“ The special festive activities run from 11am to 4pm with the Peel Commissioners Lantern Competition judged on the forecourt at 3pm followed by the parade at 3.30pm. Entry for the day is just ?3 for adults and ?1.50 for children and Friends of Manx National Heritage, with a visit to Santa just ?2 per child and includes a special gift. Come and join in the festive fun at The House of Manannan on Saturday 3rd December 2011 between 11am and 4pm and celebrate Christmas with Manx National Heritage. ENDS
