by isleofman.com 24th November 2011
An annual showcase of youth talent takes place at the Youth Arts Centre on Monday 5th December. Twenty acts from youth clubs and projects all over the Island will compete for trophies in Youth’s Got Talent. ‘Youth's Got Talent is talent show arranged for youth club members to have a taste of the limelight in the Youth Arts Centre's own theatre,’ said Fiona Helleur, Head of Youth Arts. ‘Singers, dancers, musicians and magicians are all on stage for a lively, fun and friendly show. ‘We have lights and sound, music and costumes, make-up and a lot of talent. It's one of the highlights of the Department of Education and Children Youth Service’s calendar and is always a lot of fun.’ The competition includes dance group Adrenalyn, which has been accepted to audition for Britain's Got Talent in Liverpool on Saturday (26th November). Its members met at the one of the hip-hop dance clubs at the Youth Arts Centre and have spent years perfecting their skills and steps. Two members, Beth Brown and Amaara Sharpe, went to London’s famous Pineapple Dance Studios and attended a workshop with Joey Drum, who is one of Justin Bieber’s dancers. ‘The judges will have a very hard job,’ Fiona said. Tickets cost ?2 and are available from youth club members and from the Youth Arts Centre in Kensington Road, Douglas. For more information, contact Fiona on 437339. Ends
