On November 12th Living Hope Community Church – Douglas, celebrated the official opening of “The Studio” by Sir Miles and Lady Walker. The old gym of the Palace Hotel, adjacent to the Cinema, has been given an ?100,000 make-over by the church and is already proving an instant hit with the local community.
Toddle Inn, the weekly parent and toddler group meeting on Wednesdays 9.30am – 11.30am has had so many new people attending that a second is now planned each week on Friday mornings commencing in January.
As well as youth and children’s groups the church is exploring new ways in 2012 to meet the needs of other age groups in central Douglas. If you can think of any ways the church can make a difference in Douglas don’t hesitate to drop a line to jonathan@livinghope.im or call 454280.
Jonathan Stanfield, the pastor of the Douglas congregation expressed his thanks to the Sefton Group for enabling the church to serve the local community more effectively. The 4 year arrangement between the church and hotel group enables the church to not only have 1st class facilities for children on a Sunday but also can serve the needs of the local community throughout the week.
Over ?160,000 was raised by the congregation in a 10 week period earlier in the year which ensured The Studio refurbishment and Sunday morning cinema use was paid for in full from day one.
Since the commencement of the congregation of Living Hope Community Church – Douglas, just over 3 years ago, it has grown to around 200 now regularly meeting at the new refurbished Palace Cinema and The Studio 10.30am on Sundays.
