by isleofman.com 28th November 2011
Police have now named the female pedestrian who was struck by a car, ten days ago as Mrs Christina Collister At the above time, date and location, A blue Renault Clio motor car, travelling towards Pulrose Bridge, collided with Mrs Collisterwho was walking within the cycle lane with her son, towards the Ellan Vannin Gymnastic Club. The collision caused Mrs Collisterto be knocked over a small embankment and into the river running adjacent to the road. Her son and the occupants of the Clio vehicle were not injured. As a result of the collision Mrs Collistersuffered serious leg injuries and had to be rescued from the river. She was treated at Nobles Hospital prior to being released late last week. Sadly, Mrs Collister, who was 37 and lived in Douglas, died on Friday 25 November. Inspector Terry STEPHEN of the Roads Policing Unit said “This is a tragic and unexpected loss and our thoughts are with the Collister family. At this stage it is too early to attribute Mrs Collister death to the collision on 8 November, but we must investigate the circumstances of that collision in detail now, incase that becomes the conclusion. At the time of the collision, we believe that several people were coming and going from the both the Ellan Vannin Gymnastics Club and the FA facilities in The Bowl. I am particularly interested in speaking to anybody who thinks they saw the collision or the Renault Clio car being driven on the access road prior to the collision. If anyone thinks they can help with our enquiries they are requested to contact Police Headquarters on 631212. In addition I will have Police Officers around the location of the collision this coming Tuesday evening in an effort to meet people who may have witnessed events” “Christina was a wonderful wife and a loving and devoted mother. She touched many peoples lives, and had recently starting working at Cronk-y-Berry school. She loved her new job and the children, especial those that needed a hug, that was the kind of person she was. A great loss” ENDS
