The Lieutenant Governor’s Cadet invested Sarah Wade, a Crowe Morgan CAT Trainee, is appointed as the Armed Forces’ cadet
Crowe Morgan Chartered Accountants are pleased to announce that Sarah Wade, a Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) trainee with the firm has been invested as the Lieutenant Governor’s Cadet at a ceremony held at Governor’s House on Wednesday 23rd November 2011.
Sarah, aged 19, joined the Air Cadets 440 (1st Manx) Squadron in June 2005 and during her time with the cadets has risen to the highest possible rank of Cadet Warrant Officer. Sarah helps to train new recruits to the Air Cadets, which involves teaching them about the history of the Air Force as well as taking them on off-island expeditions, which in the past year has included a flying trip. As a cadet Sarah has achieved her Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award, is First Aid trained and has obtained 2 BTEC’s, one in Aviation Studies and the other in Public Services which she passed with distinction star. “I really enjoy being an Air Cadet as it has provided me with many opportunities over the past 6 years to broaden my horizons” Sarah said, “I have been on many expeditions and training trips, and in December I will be attending a gliding course for which I obtained a scholarship and January will see me skiing.”
As the Lieutenant Governor’s Cadet Sarah will be in attendance at many formal receptions and events, with the highlight of the year being the Tynwald Day ceremony. “It is an honour to have been chosen to represent all of the Armed Forces Cadets on the island, and I am looking forward to attending the many functions over the next year” said Sarah. Cadetship usually ends when the cadet reaches the age of 20 but as Sarah has been invested until July 2012, the Royal Air Force has agreed to extend Sarah’s until then.
Amy Slee, a Partner in Crowe Morgan said “We are very pleased for Sarah and all of her achievements as a cadet and I was delighted to be asked to support her at the investiture ceremony. Sarah has worked extremely hard and applies this mindset as a trainee accountant at our firm.”
Sarah was inspired to join the Air Force cadets through listening to stories her grandfather has told her about his time in the force. If you have been inspired by Sarah’s story, then further information can be found about the 440 (1st Manx) Squadron on www.iom-aircadets.org. The cadets meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings in Tromode.
