Long-serving Ramsey Town Commissioners’ Employee Retires

by isleofman.com 30th November 2011
One of Ramsey Town Commissioners’ long-serving employees, Bernie Povey, has retired after 34 years. Mr Povey was a member of the parks team whose areas of responsibility were horticultural and mechanical and included helping maintain the bowling green in Mooragh Park and looking after the department’s plant and machinery. Ramsey Town Commissioners’ chairman Captain Nigel Malpass said: ‘Bernie has performed sterling service these past 34 years and his hard work has contributed enormously to ensuring Mooragh Park is kept in peak condition year round. For an employee to have remained with a local authority for more than three decades is clearly testimony to the loyalty the Commission engenders among its workforce and we wish Bernie every happiness in his retirement.’ In recognition of his long service Mr Povey was presented with a certificate and a framed print of a scene of Ramsey harbour.
