Manx Telecom Staff Hand Over Charity Abseil Funds

by isleofman.com 30th November 2011
Manx Telecom staff who took part in a charity abseil handed over a cheque for ?510 to the Leonard Cheshire Disability charity. Five staff - Kevin Cain, Jayne Simpson, Nicola Skelly, Jason O’Neill and Sarah De Yoxall - abseiled 130 feet at the Venture Centre in Maughold. The donation will go towards funding a trip for a group of young disabled people from Cumbria to visit the Joey Dunlop Foundation Lodge at Braddan. David Wood, from Leonard Cheshire Disability, organised the event and thanked the Manx Telecom team for the donation. He added: “I’m really pleased with how the charity abseil went. The Venture Centre staff were fantastic in making everyone who took part feel confident and comfortable and helping them overcome any fears. It’s something most of the participants had never done before but they found it to be exhilarating and exciting. It’s a fantastic way to raise money for disabled people to have a better quality of life.” Leonard Cheshire Disability is also looking for volunteers to help with their work of supporting disabled people across the Island. If you want to help call 679030. - ENDS -
