Talented Young Photographers presented with their winning photographs Photograph (l-r) – Matthew Seaward, George Barnes, Michael Crowe, Georgie Coop, Andre De-Brissac Bernard, Abigail Newsome, David Morgan, Jeriel Bacani, William Brown, Sam Bucknall Crowe Morgan Chartered Accountants recently held a presentation evening at the iMuseum in Douglas for the winners of their 2012 Calendar Photographic Competition. The competition, open to all Isle of Man 11 – 18 year olds, ran from April to 23rd September 2011 with the theme “Spirit of the Isle of Man”. In total 155 entries were received, all of a very high standard using some very advanced photographic techniques which made for difficult decisions by the judges. “We were delighted by the number and photographic quality of entries received. There are some very talented young photographers in the Isle of Man and we thought that a competition such as ours is a fantastic opportunity to showcase this talent” said David Morgan, Partner of Crowe Morgan and judge. “ A big thank you to the judges who were; Antony Hamilton (President of the Isle of Man Photographic Society), Richard Kinley (Local Landscape Photographer), Mike Wade (Isle of Man Newspapers Photographer), John Moss (Manx Radio) and Ken Callister of the Isle of Man Youth Service.” The prizes for each winning photograph were a ?100 Morrison Photography Shop voucher, a framed copy of the photograph, a certificate and a copy of the calendar. All entrants will be receiving a certificate of participation and a copy of the calendar as a thank you for entering the competition. The calendar which captures images and the atmosphere of the Isle of Man are sent out to Crowe Morgan clients and contacts on the Island and all over the world. “Our original plan was to use 13 images in the calendar, but as there was such a high volume of outstanding photographs we decided to include an additional image on the back cover. The image chosen ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun!’ by Georgie Coop ties in nicely with the theme of next year’s calendar, ‘Sporting Island’” continued David Morgan. “We are again inviting young photographers aged 11 – 18 years to enter photographs into the competition. We have chosen the theme ‘Sporting Island’ to coincide with the Olympic Games taking place in London in 2012 and hope to get great images of unique Isle of Man events such as the TT, MGP, Parish Walk and End to End plus Manx competitors winning in international events – the harder it is for the judges the better!” Entry forms and further information are now available for the 2013 Calendar Competition on the Crowe Morgan website, www.crowemorgan.com or by contacting Lorna Trevethan, Office Manager on 665100 or emailing lornatrevethan@crowemorgan.com. The closing date for entries is Friday 21st September 2012 but photographs can be submitted at any time before this date.
