IOMA Group Continues Sponsorship of Bacchas Hockey Club

by isleofman.com 13th December 2011
IOMA Group has confirmed that it will be extending its sponsorship of local hockey club Bacchanalians, which was established in 1985. IOMA Group has sponsored the club since 2002 and they have agreed to continue this support for a further three years, until 2013. The hockey club is one of the Island’s largest; with 107 senior, 65 junior and 31 social members. The club has twelve teams in total throughout a number of leagues, and was recently awarded “Club of the Year” by the Manx Hockey Association. The funds that IOMA provide help to cover the costs of kit for the junior team and for goal keepers. It also helps to subsidise the cost of travel for junior members who have been selected to train in the UK and senior teams who participate in UK leagues. The club has a very strong junior development programme, with a number of young players currently progressing through the Junior Regional Performance Centre in England. The club also hopes to engage young children in the 3-7 age group with hockey through a series of ‘taster days’ in the future. Tim Leeming, the Chairman of Bacchas club, is grateful to IOMA for their support: “Everyone at the club appreciates the help that IOMA give, as it helps us to achieve our best and keep playing the sport that we all love. Without the support of parents, supporters, and IOMA we could not have achieved these levels of success. We always welcome new members to the club and anyone interested can contact the club secretary on bacchashc@hotmail.com”. Managing Director of the Group, Nigel Wood, commented on the sponsorship extension: “It is extremely important to support the community within which you operate, (particularly in difficult times) and sponsorship of Bacchas is just one part of this. IOMA Group is proud to have been associated with the club for the last nine years and pleased to be continuing our close relationship into the future. It is fantastic that they engage such a broad cross-section of Manx society through the sport and introduce young people to the benefits. It is fantastic that the club is so passionate about what they do. They share many values with IOMA; they are fit, competitive and committed. And they tend to win a lot – we like that too”. ENDS
