IOMA Group has confirmed that it will be extending its sponsorship of local hockey club Bacchanalians, which was established in 1985. IOMA Group has sponsored the club since 2002 and they have agreed to continue this support for a further three years, until 2013. The hockey club is one of the Island’s largest; with 107 senior, 65 junior and 31 social members. The club has twelve teams in total throughout a number of leagues, and was recently awarded “Club of the Year” by the Manx Hockey Association. The funds that IOMA provide help to cover the costs of kit for the junior team and for goal keepers. It also helps to subsidise the cost of travel for junior members who have been selected to train in the UK and senior teams who participate in UK leagues. The club has a very strong junior development programme, with a number of young players currently progressing through the Junior Regional Performance Centre in England. The club also hopes to engage young children in the 3-7 age group with hockey through a series of ‘taster days’ in the future.
