Isle of Man Datacentre provider Wi-Manx has appointed Alan Cowin as Operations Manager, a new post created to provide a link between sales and service delivery.
Following an apprenticeship in the electronics industry and a degree in electronics and computing, Alan has been working in the computer and telecommunication field for more than 26 years. He joins Wi-Manx from Domicilium, having previously held a number of leadership positions working as a Project Manager, Business Development Manager, General Manager, Technical Director and Sales Director.
One of Alan’s key roles will be overseeing the operation of the Heywood House Datacentre, which Wi-Manx opened in September this year.
Wi-Manx Managing Director Ed Whipp said: ‘Alan brings with him a depth of experience, technical skills and management capabilities to the new post. He will support both the administration and management operations, in addition to attracting new customers to Heywood House Datacentre, which offers the most technologically-advanced hosting services in the Isle of Man.’
Alan's remit will include assisting with the design of innovative client propositions, developing bid documentation, shaping the early stages of consulting assignments and leading the initial stages of project delivery.
Manx-born Alan is 49 and lives in Onchan. He said: ‘I’m looking forward to what promises to be an exciting and challenging new role. Heywood House Datacentre is a hugely impressive achievement and the services offered are second-to-none.
‘Challenged with the ability to meet diverse customer needs through custom and complementary managed services, the right solution has to be found for the radical way companies now face servicing their data.
‘The mixture of traditional rack hosting and cloud-based services – and the combination of both – will be instrumental in driving forward the growth of the business in this state-of-the-art Datacentre.’
