Local financial advisory firm, KPMG, is once again looking for local charities to assist through its annual Make a Difference Day or MADD initiative. Now in its twelfth year, Make a Difference Day is an exercise in corporate social-responsibility practised by KPMG staff across the globe: a not-for-profit means of reaffirming the company’s relationship with its communities, employees and customers and of making a marked and tangible, positive impact on our natural and civic environment.
So far, the initiative has helped to raise millions for charities, recycle thousands of tons of materials, paint miles of wall and transform countryside and urban environments across the globe. Past years on the Island alone have seen KPMG employees team up with Victim Support, The Salvation Army, The Manx Wildlife Trust, The Manx Blind Welfare Society and the Isle of Man Hospice on such projects as dry-stone walling in Cregneash, interior and exterior renewal and moving premises, and next year they’re looking to do even more.
“Recent collaborations have been a great success” enthused Sinead O’Connor, Senior Manager and head of corporate responsibility KPMG Isle of Man, “as well as making a significant difference, our employees gained first-hand experience of the importance of contributing to our local communities and by consolidating relationships with charitable organisations, we are now able to provide future support exactly where it is needed most”.
MADD 2012 will see tens of thousands of KPMG employees spanning 150 countries take a hands-on approach to community relief, each combining their allocated time to create hundreds of thousands of cumulative man-hours ready to be harnessed for whatever charitable activities you see fit.
So if you know of a local charity, project or initiative that could benefit from some extra man-power between January and June of 2012, contact Sinead O’Connor at KPMG on 681 070 or by emailing sineadoconnor@kpmg.co.im.
