Manx Telecom’s New Store Attracts Massive Increase in Customers

by isleofman.com 16th December 2011
The first full month of footfall figures available for Manx Telecom’s new store in Strand Street, Douglas, show a massive increase in customers compared to the same month last year. The new store opened in October and replaced Manx Telecom’s two stores which were in Strand Street and Victoria Street. November figures show an increase of more than 40% in customer footfall compared to the combined total for the two stores in November 2010. Andrew Honour, Manx Telecom Commercial Manager, said: “New store footfall figures for November reached almost 30,000 - that’s more than 40% up on the combined figures for both of our old stores in the same month last year. This is phenomenal as we only launched our Christmas offers on November 14 and we are expecting a very busy Christmas and New Year.” Mr Honour said that Manx Telecom’s ‘Price Match Promise’ and good supplies of the immensely popular iPhone 4S had all helped to boost the footfall figures. Almost 200 iPhone 4S handsets were sold in the first week of December alone. Mr Honour added: “Our store has been especially busy in the last two weeks at lunchtimes and at weekends. We have taken steps to deal with this but we ask our customers to be patient if service takes a little longer than normal in the run up to Christmas.” Sales of smartphones increased by approximately 40% year on year while the number of customers signing long term mobile and broadband contracts increased by around 30%. In anticipation of the pre-Christmas demand Manx Telecom’s store is opening later on Sundays and Thursdays. The store is open from 10am to 8.30pm on Thursdays and from noon to 4.30pm on Sundays in the run up to Christmas. On all other days the store is open from 9am to 5.30pm, except Christmas Eve when the opening hours will be from 9am to 4pm. - Ends -
