Ryan Goes for a Hat-Trick in Santa Dash

by isleofman.com 20th December 2011
Ryan Fairclough will be bidding for a third successive victory in Isle of Man Bank's Charity Santa Dash. Over 100 Santas will be taking to the streets of Douglas to raise money for their chosen charities. Isle of Man Bank has put up a total of ?2,700 in prize money with cheques of ?300, ?200 and ?100 going to the first three finishers, while the first lady Santa home will also receive a cheque for ?100. There are prizes for the best dressed male and female runners with a further ?1,800 being awarded for pre-determined, but secret, finishing positions. The elite athletes in the field will be bidding to break the course record of 4 minutes 28 seconds set by John Halligan in 2007. However, event organiser, Isle of Man Bank Community Investment Manager John Lindon said the object, as always, was to have fun while raising money for charity. Said Mr. Lindon: ‘The beauty of this event is that someone finishing towards the back of the field also has a great chance of winning money for charity as spot prizes are awarded for secret finishing positions so you don’t have to be a top class athlete to win a big prize.’ The Santa Dash starts at 12.30 Tuesday from Isle of Man Bank’s Athol Street premises and finishes at the entrance to the South Douglas Old Friends Association in Finch Road where a cup of tea or coffee will be available.
